The summer after high school, I built a 48V 2500W electric bike (capable of about 35mph) so I could get around without a driver's license, complete with a throttle, digital display, motor controller, and battery pack. About a year later I went back in for V2 repairs: machining custom metal mounting brackets, cleaning up wire management and routing, and reinforcing the frame attachments after the original zip-tie mounting failed and some wiring got damaged.

I'm now building on that experience with a much more powerful electric dirt bike, currently in progress: a 12kW motor running off a custom-built 24s12p battery pack (88V, 288 cells) with its own battery management system. It's a big step up in power and speed from the original e-bike, which means solving for higher current handling and more robust mounting from the start.
